Common Threads Quilt Guild Board Meeting
March 25, 2008
Present: Melissa Bailey, Karla Zadnik, Patty Merry,
Connie Bell, Marty Rigo, Jenny Myers, Marsha Beane, Vicky Price, Kelley LaPlace,
Jackie Jones, Claire Paul
New Brochure: Patty finished it; it’s
beautiful. As we get program descriptions for next year, give to Patty for next
year’s brochure. Will put in quilt shops. Ask new members how they heard about
the guild, so we know if it works. Track it.
Reserving the Church: Melissa will be the only
contact person for reserving the church. This will avoid confusion, since Kathy
Myers reserves it for Quilt Beginnings. If you plan a workshop or other type of
event, have Melissa reserve the room.
2009 Programs:

Linda Chang Teufel – March. Developing and
producing an art quality quilt. Dragonthreads.com. She publishes books.

Kimberly Einmo – April. Flying geese ruler.
“View of the world through the Eyes of a Quilter.” Coming from Germany.

Carol Doak – March 2010! Splitting the cost with
Lima quilt guild. Doing a workshop at Quilt Beginnings. Vicky will send info
to Jackie.
If you have a hot tip or lead, tell Vicky or Marsha.
Retreat: Connie reports the retreat is
completely full. Even though one person dropped out, and Melissa will sleep on
a cot.
Workshops: Jackie and Jovita are planning a service
retreat May 3. Work on Grads quilts, UFOs and free lunch. In fellowship hall.
Marty will teach the new pattern. Jovita will buy fabric.
Bus Trip: Vicky has 46 reservations. One bus.
Dinners: April – Vicky’s crew making Taco Pie.
May – Looking for volunteers. Karla and Mary Ann?
Block Exchange: Jenny gave to Patty to post on
website. For May meeting, “Building Blocks 2” You make 12 blocks. 9” blocks
using Kona snow and a pastel floral you choose.
Quilt Show: Kelley has contacted CMQ about
using their racks. Waiting to hear back. Would like to do a raffle – baskets
or charity quilts? Marty has a raffle quilt. We need refreshments and posters
for quilt shops. Kelley will ask for volunteers.
Patty has membership cards. Melissa has rosters. We will
hand them out at the meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Marty reports we have
$14,578 in our account. Money from the Bus Trip and Retreat will come back
out. Melissa’s printing charge was $205.
April Meeting: We will need tables to display
the challenge pieces. 6 long tables double. No chairs around them. 8 round
tables and chairs for dinner and the meeting. If they finish their project,
they get their $5 back. Winners get a check for charity. Can we get labels for
all the quilts?
Melissa and Karla get emails from Ohio Historical Society,
etc. about quilt events. They will use discretion about forwarding to the
members.
Next month, start thinking about the picnic (July meeting –
here at the church).
